How do you care for a wooden benchtop?
Maintaining timber benchtops is often easier than people make it out to be as long as you do the following:
Clean up spills immediately: Accidents happen in the kitchen, but when they do, be sure to wipe your kitchen benchtop dry right away whenever food juices, beverages or even water are spilled. Despite the finish on your timber benchtop, moisture still can leak through it and could warp the wood. Use only warm, soapy water when cleaning the surface and never apply vinegar or any acid-based cleaners as these cleaning agents can penetrate and weaken the glue that holds the boards together.
Sand and reseal your benchtop. Minor scratches on your timber benchtop can happen, but the beauty of timber is that you can easily sand and reseal after general wear and tear. For more information on resealing your timber benchtop, check out this helpful guide.
