managing food waste in the kitchen

maximise waste management in your kitchen by sorting and organizing food scraps and packaging with the kaboodle bin range, now available at Bunnings

Although it’s not the most glamorous topic, waste in the kitchen is something we all have to deal with on a daily basis. If you only have one bin in the kitchen, it might be time to re-think the way you manage waste in the kitchen. It will not only be better for the environment but will also give you great satisfaction.

If you’re planning a brand-new kitchen or even thinking about making some small updates to you space, including an integrated bin is a no brainer. It looks sleek as it fits seamlessly within the kitchen, rather than having a stand-alone bin that takes up floor space, while also emitting not so nice odours.

Luckily, we have a number of easy to install integrated bin options in the kaboodle bin range, that work wonders when it comes to managing kitchen waste. Our larger bin hampers allow you to include up to four different bin compartments, meaning you can separate your waste into categories (recycling, general waste, compost and plastic).

If you’re planning on including an integrated bin, we would suggest locating this near the sink and dishwasher for ease and convenience.

Our integrated bins also allow for easy cleaning. The bins can be removed completely, meaning spills can be taken care of quickly. We would suggest giving your bins a good clean out every week for hygiene purposes and to also make sure food doesn’t get stuck to the inside of the bin, causing unwanted odours.

Pro tip – if your garbage bag is gathering some moisture in the bottom of it, try scrunching up some newspaper and placing it at the bottom of a fresh bag, this should assist in absorbing moisture.
